The first “Woman-Owned” Winery and Winemaker in San Diego County
Jennifer Lane, Owner/Winemaker, Pamo Valley Winery
Wine IS sexy! Especially in America, wine has always been associated with special occasions. If we want to impress someone with a nice dinner, or establish a romantic ambiance for that special “someone,” we typically include a bottle of nice wine to emphasize the importance of the occasion.
At Pamo Valley Winery, we are very passionate about making premium wines that are pleasing to the palate. We believe that wine is feminine by its very nature. Wine is a gift from Mother Nature. When crafted by capable human hands, and well made, it is a joy.
Our winemaking philosophy at Pamo Valley Winery is to keep the wines approachable and enjoyable by a broad spectrum of the wine drinking public.
We carefully craft our wines to be fruit forward and soft on the finish – no big, tannic bombs out of our winery! We hope that you feel the passion that went into our wines when you drink them. Pour some of our passion tonight – pour Pamo Valley Wines!
Ramona Valley AVA
Our original Syrah vineyard established in 2000 was planted overlooking the Pamo Valley. Hence the winery name. In 2007 the winery relocated 4 miles further to a lush mountain side location on Black Canyon Road in Ramona.
Phase 1 of our Black Canyon vineyard was planted in June 2008 with varietals including Orange Muscat, Viogner, Primitivo and Cabernet Sauvignon. In July 2010 we doubled in size by adding Phase 2 planted in Sangiovese. Also on Black Canyon Road, a quarter mile down the road at our family homestead, Serendipity Ranch, we grow Syrah and Tempranillo, planted in 2007. In 2014 Malbec and Viognier were planted. The Viognier was planted for our daughter Ella Mae (Named after her great grandmother Ellie Mae Whitcomb). Born May 7th, 2013, Ella has already begun learning how to work in the vineyards. With an addiction of planting more grapes, we added another plot of Sangiovese vines in 2016. Our Tempranillo was badly injured in the 2007 Cedar fires and never really produced many grapes. Therefore, we replanted these with Sangiovese.
In order to sustain our inventory, we also purchase grapes from local, quality growers.
Our winery produces an array of handmade, premium award winning, small production wines including Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Sangiovese, Zinfandel, Primitivo, Tempranillo, Petite Sirah, Barbera, Viognier, Orange Muscat and many blends all coming from the Ramona AVA. We have enjoyed exceptional quality harvests.
Pamo Valley Winery is a licensed and bonded wholesale winery that markets its limited production wines through our tasting room and wine club. You may see some of our wines at select local restaurants and at special events. Our wines are produced entirely by hand, “the old fashioned way”. We produce our wines with locally grown grapes.
